Hopefully things will work out in my favor and I will be heading out on a 1300 mile round trip vacation in April. I really don't want to have to deal with the TourPak however I do have the HD solo rack installed on the bike. Can anyone suggest a roll bag that can be used for packing up clothes and such and is designed to be strapped down to a rack (hopefully without the use of bungee cords)?
We have had good luck with the SAC. You can get them directly from SAC, and they are also marketed by HD with a HD logo on them. Your local shop should have a set that you could look at and see if they would fit the bill. You could then buy them somewhere else for less money.
Are you asking about a bag like I have in my pic or something like a T-bag? I've got both. You can put a lot of stuff it the T-bag. I've got the universal. It slides on the backrest and you tie it down with straps.
If you go to my photo gallery you will see how I have the bike setup in regards to the solo rack. The only thing that might change is the replacement of the Sundowner Solo seat with a Mustang Solo w/ rider backrest. However I don't want to rely on having a backrest for mounting whichever bag I end up getting.
Brian,
Take a look at the Kuryakyn Full Dresser. I just picked up two of them, one for the wifes scoot. What I like about it is you can go in and get stuff at the bootom of the bag without messing everything else up. Also, this bag holds about the same volume as the full size tbag with a roll bag attached on top. Might be what your looking for.
