Default 08 Ultra Passenger Rails
The Harley accessories site says that the Ultra passenger rails will not fit an 08 Ultra with tour pack speakers. Does anyone know why? I have compared my bike to earlier models equiped with passenger rails and cannot find anything that is different.

They will not clear the speakers. The back part of the rail hits the speakers on the 08.

I guess the bigger gas tank must have upset the positioning...

Not true. I have them on my '08 Ultra. As long as the tourpak is in the rear position (as delivered) the passenger handles fit fine.

I also have them on my 08, but the tour pack is lower then in the past and there is about 1/4 of and inch between the handle and the speaker. I got mine at a swap meet and paid 30 bucks, they were from a 97 FLH but look great.
The grab bars for the 09 say they only fit the 09, so that opens another question

I took mine off an 04 and put them on an 07. I just took them off an 07 and put them on an 08. No Problem at all. Bldr

They said the same thing about the 07, I have several friends who have them of their 08's, they tour paks are in the rear position.

My wife used them if I stop quickly. I rather have her hold on to them then push on me on the back as I come to a quick stop.
