When I got mine they came with the three holes drilled or cut in them so that you had to completely remove the screws from the fairing to reinstall their unit. Next time I'm going to have them cut through the bottom so you can just loosen the screws and slide the new one in with completely taking out the screws. Much easier. Thats the way the MOCO makes theirs. Just a suggestion.
Guess I'm gonna be ordering a new windshield from these folks. You guys sold me. Just to make sure I have the right vendor, is this the web site: Custom FLHT Winshields
Yes that is the place, my friend who ordered one got the wrong size the first time he ordered an 8" ,and ordered a 10" as soon as he got the 8" ,mounted I took his for a ride, and the air hit me right in the center of my nose, but anyway they gave him a mar resistant upgrade for free.
+1 on their customer service. I haven't bought one yet, but I was curious what the shield looked like from the rider's perspective. All of the pictures on their website at that time were from the front. I emailed them and asked about it. The SAME DAY they emailed me pics from the rider side. The NEXT DAY they had (and still have) the pics up on their site. This thread just reminded me I've been meaning to order. Guess I'll do that now ...
I purchased a 12" dark tint flattop recently. Shield works really great, but now that I have it think the halfmoon shape looks better. Mine makes the bike look pretty big in front. Also, the shield is a bit tall for me (6'), and takes some getting used to because the top edge is in my line of sight. It was really nice, however, riding in the rain wtih that tall of a shield. I'm actually contemplating ordering a shorter one that is halfmoon, as soon as I can sneak it past the missus.
I'm thinking of going with the 10" halfmoon. The OEM is 12" and that's the problem I have ... the top of the shield is right in my line of sight. PLUS I get a lot of buffeting.
Like I said before I have a 10" shield , I am 5'10" with a stock seat, and the "dirty air" is over my head, and it does not seem to hit the passenger either.
