The diagram of hjdistl's post will work great for someone with a accessory switch and for that mater a passing lamp switch. For someone with say a Dyna or Sportster there is a much easier way. In fact several ways. For me the best way is to splice into the blue wire (BE) of the sheathed bundle comming out of connector 24B pin 3 and the black wire (BK) pin 8 going to the left hand controls. The blue wire is always "hot" as long as the ignition switch is on. The black wire of corse is ground. The driving light will be unswitched and will be on regardless of your headlight being on low beam or high beam. If you want your driving lights switched then you'll need to place a switch in the driving light circuit. This gets a little more complicated on the Dyna and Sportster but not that much more. Harley Davidson to the resque! Part #70248-02B (the left aux accessory switch housing and of corse you will need part #71718-02 (the aux on/off switch). The aux access switch housing buts right up to the left hand controls switch housing. Pick up the blue wire in the left hand control switch housing ( before it becomes switched by the high/low switch) and jump it into the newly installed access switch housing and access switch. Catch the black ground wire there in the left hand control switch housing and run it through the aux switch housing along with the "new" blue wire in a sheath back down the handlebar to the driving lights. What do ya think?
