Default Kuryakan Passing Lamp Control Harness

Has anyone tried the Kuryakan Total Contol Passing Lamp Harness: http://www.kuryakyn.com/Products/428...g-Lamp-Harness

It is supposed to allow you to use the passing lamps in conjunction with high beams.

Any side effects such as circuit overload?

Yes...I know some states probably prohibit using the passing lamps in conjunction with the high beam. Whatever...

Dunno why you would want your auxiliary lights (passing?) on with high beam anyway! What happens when you have to switch to low beam when you've (almost) blinded a car coming the opposite way? What's wrong with low beam and aux lights on all the time....

Barbara, I don't know where you ride at night, but there are times that all the lighting you can get in front isn't enough. When you are facing oncoming traffic many times when I switch to low beams and the passing lights come on people flash me because they see more than one light. The law is backwards I think, you should be able to use your driving lights only when you can use your high beam. not low beam and then driving lights. Most of the time you are blinded is because some idiot is driving with low beams AND driving lights instead of killing the driving lights to oncoming traffic !
Most states have laws on candlepower that aren't enforced anymore. That is where the law came from, that way you don't add the bright light rating to the driving lights. But the driving lights shouldn't be on to oncoming traffic in the first place .
When you meet traffic, or come up behind traffic, loose the bright & driving lights ! When nothing is coming at you or you aren't behind traffic,,,,, All the lights you can get !! I like seeing animals in the road BEFORE I hit them !

One thing really gets to me also is the Cop that pulls you over for having a "Blue Dot" in your tail light, but won't do anything about headlights being blue, or green, and I saw one the other night orange. Also won't do anything to enforce lights out of adjustment !! Or having 1,000,000 candlepower driving lights on in town just thinking they are being cool ! Kinda starts a new game called "paint the driving lights"......

Kuryakan is just following Harley's lead, I have the harness from Harley on my 06 Ultra and it works just fine. I have seen no ill effects from running the high beam and passing lights at the same time, the extra light is great when running a very dark road.

Did you guys know that RJ, no more fried thighs, sells a mirror polished half moon aux light deflectors? They insert just under the chrome lid and redirect the aux light beam to the road and ground in front of you. Works wonders and no more people flashing their lights at you. I had them on the POSE.

Thanks msocko, that was the information I was looking for.

It is always interesting how a simple question gets people on their soapboxes. In this case, I guess if all you do is ride to Starbucks you don't know what it is like to need as much light as you can get when you need it. For example riding through the cascade mountains in the pitch black dark, with no opposing traffic for miles, and having to be on the lookout for debris in the road, elk, bear, and sasquatch. Can you imagine coming up on this guy at 60 MPH in the dark?: I want to see as far and wide as I can... Oh yeah...there is a toggle switch to turn off the passing lights if you need to.

Yeah whatever......
You might look at the dual halogen bulb headlight Harley PT#67700032.
I have one on my TG, and it works great ! Both bulbs work on bright.
A little spendy, but what isn't at $175, but nice to have !

I might give those a try. I used to run those on my headlights on my truck years ago. They do work well, and help a lot in fog or snow. But then again we never ride our bikes in the rain......
