I have an '07 RKC with a little over 4000 miles on it. I have the chance to buy an '09 Ultra at a pretty reasonable deal. The dealer has offered me $17K for my RKC and will sell the Ultra at list plus tax, no other mark ups or charges.
I am torn as I love my RKC but I am thinking an Ultra might be a better route for the longer term. If it was a car deal I wouldn't think twice, but I have this weird attachment to my bike. What would you do?
The deal sounds gtreat but ask yourself what kind of riding are you in to? The RK is a great bike for a wide range of riding ativities. The Ultra is much more single purpose re touring in high style and comfort. The deal may make good financial sense but not if you can't really enjoy the result!

The ultra can do anything the RK can do. get the Ultra, but wait until mine comes in so there is less demand and they can concentrate on shipping and putting mine together first.

Well, I have decided to do it. I've tried to think of all the pros and cons, and undoubtedly missed some, but I have to do it. One of the deciding factors, other than the overwhelming positives form all here, is that I can't see getting a similar deal again in the future. I feel the offer on my trade is good, I feel the price of the Ultra is good and they just threw in the 1000 mile service too. Pics to follow.
Thanks to everyone.
I could have bought a 09 EGUC for 1500 more than I paid for my 08 SG. I'd SOOOO do the deal. He's giving you a killer deal on your bike and the 09 prices are down. Good bikes man!
Had the same attachment to my '03 Heritage until I'd had my Ultra for about 5 months... When out of town, I rented a Heritage -- and didn't realize how accustomed I had become to all the creature-comforts of the Ultra... Yeah, with the Crossbones in the stable, you'll have the best of both worlds..........
