A few weeks back, I did the 1k service on my 08 Ultra. Prior to that, I went to the dealership to get the parts. When I asked for a derby cover gasket, the parts guy gave me the "usual" six inch round paper kind. When I pulled the derby cover, the gasket used was a rubber O-ring seated in the derby cover itself.
The next day, I go back to get the correct gasket and a different parts guy tries to give me the same thing. I say no, it's an 08, it uses a rubber O-ring, not the paper disk. He says the paper gasket is the new, improved version. When pressed, he produced a service kit that had the proper part.
Was he correct? is the paper gasket an update? I tend to doubt it, since the original gasket had the same part number as what fits my old 06 RK. Also, the 08 service manual makes no reference to changing gasket types.
I went in to my dealer last saturday and asked for a derby cover seal for my 07.He sold me a rubber flat type o-ring seal that came with 3 small o-rngs which he said are for the drain plugs
17369-06 is the derby o-ring kit with 3 11105 o-rings and is for 06 Dyna and 07 and later touring bikes. The derby o-ring works on the stock derby cover only. If use another cover then you use 25416-99C which is the disc
