Default Broken Brackets

I had my front faring off this weekend to fix a couple of broken wires and I notice that the support brackets were broken in 6 places, 3 on each side. I have heard of this happining a lot but what if any is the Motorco doing about this. I cked the price and it looks like to replace the brackets would be around 120bucks. Does any one know it the motorco is doing any thing about the broken brackets?

MOCO will replace them under warranty if your bike is sill under warranty, if not ,do what I did, and weld them up so it does not happen again.

take the time to check your front motor mounts. broken mounts are the main cause for fairing bracket failures

I asked one of guys at the parts counter to check the part nos. for the fairing support brackets on the '09's to see if they are new; he checked the parts book and told me they are the old part nos.--not new ones.

Time to bring out the welder and shop skills to weld and reinforce the HD flimsy brace. By welding them back together, you will see where a brace or thicker material is needed. In the case of my main braces on the Ultra. The ends were broken off. After welding them back on, I bent a J shaped piece of material and made a complete pocket brace around the whole thing. Fixed forever.........probably brake somewhere else.

You'd think one of the aftermarket outfits would come up with a fix for this obvious problem!

PM "fryeca" here on the forum. He redesigned the brackets somehow and was going to start making and selling them, but I don't know if he ever did. Here's a pic of what he made to accompany the stock ones
