Why is HD like the only MC that has stock seats that suck... friend just bought a Vulcan and loved his stock 2-up seat.
Oh, trust me, HD is "not" the only MC manufacturer that has lousy stock seats. For me, the seat of choice is the Russell Day-Long saddle conversion (www.day-long.com).
I put my first one on an '83 BMW R80RT. I bought it used from my Dad, who bought it new. He had a custom seat that he had been using on it and when I bought it, he took that seat off and put the factory stock seat back on the bike so I got what was essentially a new factory seat that didn't have more than a couple hundred miles of use. One good day ride taught me that that seat wasn't going to get it at all. Since then, I've done a Russell conversion on every bike I've owned, a '93 Goldwing (which had the best factory seat I've experienced but eventually broke down and needed replacement), a '98 Honda ST1100 (which did great on a trip to California but about killed me on the way back!), a '09 HD Ultra and my current bike, a '13 BMW R1200RT, both of which I knew were going to get seat conversions after sitting on them for 5 minutes in the showroom floor.
Considering what we "pay" for modern motorcycles these days, you'd think they could do a better job designing seats. I know it's not easy. There's no "one size fits all" in this venue but really.......
