Was wondering if this excessive top end noise I'm experiencing is normal or does My engine have a problem ? Anyone else experiencing this...
My 08 RKC when started cold the day after a long ride on a 90+ degree day makes excessive lifter noise, this is not regular everyday engine noise...it really gets your attention. The engine will be up to full operating temp and during mild acceleration at low revs makes excessive lifter noise that within a few miles goes away...obviously the lifters are bleeding down and are taking some time to pressurize, excessive noise=excessive wear is the concern.
I'm running premium Motul 7100 Full Synthetic 20/50
Harley lifters arn't the quietest but you might want your dealer to check it. You didn't say, but I assume they are noiser than other V-twins? My 05' 95" is about the same as my 08' stock 96", not noisey but you can here them.
