I leave it where ever it is when I shut the engine off...usually in gear. If I was on an incline and in neutral I would not bother putting it in gear. The jiffy stand on an HD is pretty dadgum sturdy.

I generally always put her in neutral before a cold start.

I always use neutral unless I am on an incline then I put on the kill switch to remind me not to start it until I put it back in neutral. This is the only time I use the kill switch.

I've owned 3 motorcycles. Always park in neutral. If I'm on too steep an incline I always park it nose up. Like mentioned above I don't like searching for neutral every time I start it and think it's hard on the toe-heel shifter. When I park, I find neutral while bike is still running and then shut it off with kill switch and then turn off ignition. Never had a problem doing it this way. I think the Harley kick stand makes people nervous but it's never failed me anyways.

Pretty much like SPARKY_MO stated. I like to start the bike to let it warm up while I (or we) finish gearing up; I've been instructed to let the bike warm up until the rocker covers are warm (this is the same for my '08 UC as I was advised for my '93 FLHS). The manual for the '08 UC states not to shift gears when the engine isn't running, possible damage will result. So it is easier for me to park the bike in neutral, allowing me to start the bike without having to find neutral while the bike is in the higher revs on initial start up. The kickstand locks in place, preventing forward or rearward movement. On a severe incline, I might put it in gear, but I've never had a problem not doing so.

Same here. If it's level, it's going nowhere. Even a little incline and it won't roll.
