I actually prefer the old regular five speed transmissions....good transmissions. Then again, I also liked the good ole' four speeds as well.

Five speeds on all my Harleys work great with no problems.

Now that you bored out yer motor, skip the 6 speed, go two teeth bigger on the front pulley, and never look back.

I have a 2006 RKC and after I bumped up to the 95 Stage II, I installed the SE 6 sp and love it. Much smoother ride at 65+ mph and it satisfied my urge to always shift up once more from 5th. I also HIGHLY advise going to the hydraulic clutch if you go to the SE because with the cable set, the hand grip tension is much higher. I found out how big a problem that can be the hard way on the twisties in the Smoky Mountains. When I got back from that trip, I installed the hydro setup as soon as I could. The clutch is now butter smooth and I could have saved some bucks when installing the gear set because you have to order either the cable or hydraulic side cover kit when installing the SE 6 speed.

I agree. I have an 07 FLHT and only see 6th on a trip in a crowd . An 06 will be different because the gearing is different. In 07 they changed the gearing and I can feel it on take off, especially with a load. The Harley 6 speed has a final ratio of 1-1, same as the 5 speed. The actual difference is in the gearing which reduces the RPM. I believe the baker is a "true" overdrive.

gladd im not the only one who sees better milage in 5th than 6th said that in prevoius thread and got flamed, on the 07-08 the gearing is stupid tall unless you ride solo with no gear and weigh less than a buck fifty.
