A while back, someone on this forum reported that he had 100k on his '07 SG, so I asked him about problems he had experienced. Here's a list of what he gave me:

50k: Sprocket gear seal.

80k: Clutch disks and front engine mount.

81k: Primary and secondary cam-chain tensioners. Originals looked good but found some plastic particles in oil filter.

83k: Replaced stator because of leaking around the plug. Also replaced the inner-primary mainshaft bearing, although he didn't say if it was faulty or not.

90k: Tranny "compensator assembly" replaced. I'm not sure what this is.

Replaced the "Y" pipe three times because of cracking, about every 25k.

I would say, if you are running a synthetic (not starting another oil thread) you will be fine, you won't cook your expensive oil. Obviously, if you see yourself having to sit in one place for an extended amount of time, pull over and wait until traffic clears.

I'm over 60,000 on an 08 RKC. Still running strong.

A mechanic from the local dealership told me there was a TC96 guy with 150k on it and doing fine.

High mileage guys generally don't have time to post on forums.

Sounds like one hell of a night Friday night. All B/S aside that is weird stuff.

Default TC96 83,000 miles

My 07 FLHT is my first touring bike. At 83,000 miles and 80 MPH avg. interstate speeds, I've started to experience a few valve train noises. I have replaced the front motor mount, Lifters and the SS quickie adjust push rods. Ive had to replace gaskets under the rear rocker boxes, upper and lower. I'm getting ready to replace my hydraulic cam chain tensioners and eventually the Primary tensioner. I have a manual and easy access to YouTube. I've been a mechanic (mostly industrial ie pumps and valves) for 50 years, but I still get nauseous over diving into something I've never done and after price checking the MOCO dealer shop rates, I tread lightly into that deep cold water. If you don't feel comfortable and can't swallow the nausea at wrenching and have the money, somebody has to buy the new harleys when they come out. Why not you?

I just broke 103,000 miles

There's a lot more 96 inchers with high mileage out there than indicated on these forums. I have two friends one with over 100k and the other with 89k on the clock. Trouble free. The guy with 100k is stock all the way with the exception of an added oil cooler. Both me and my other friend have added oil coolers and Jasons Fans.

xied, oil cooler, cooling fans, and good synthetic oil should give you 100k with no major problems. cam chain tensioners and compensator are probably going to need replacing somewhere along the way. the moco remanufactured program will probably be the cheapest way to go when you do need a re-build on your motor. met a guy last year that was putting his 2nd re-man motor in an '06 roadglide at 265k miles. that averages out to over 130k per motor.
