Had an '09 FLHTCU completely stock, no air filter or exhaust mods, that went 65k before the connecting rod bearing went. Crank assembly replaced and was good to 99k when the right side crank bearing walked out of the case. New cases & crank assembly and at 108k it was traded in for a '14 Limited.

I'm at 103,400 miles right now on my 2009 RK. No problem. It's bone stock (see the set-up below) with Stage I.

The starter was replaced at 75k

The compensator/Stator was replaced three times (the '09-12 models had a defective design in the compensator and it was problematic). The last (third) one is the newly designed one that supposedly has eliminated the problem. We shall see. Other than this one faultily designed component (fixed under the extended warranty) nothing other than routine stuff.

Otherwise this has been a fantastic bike. Very happy with it.

These bikes are just nicely broken in at 100,000

When we picked up my wife's '08 Heritage with the T/C 96 the difference in engine heat between her '99 EVO and also my T/C 88.

We had an oil cooler added, as well as V&H Staggered Duals, and a Stage I a/c cover.

We've always used SYN 3 fluids and this bike now has over 11,000 miles and it runs like new (or better).

My riding partner bought a '10 Ultra and from day one has complained about the engine heat.
In 2012 he took the bike in to have the cat removed and an oil cleaner installed and the dealer called and told him the engine was "trashed"!
Complete upper rebuild/conversion to a "103" and eliminating the cat made the bike run a lot better.

My buddy has an '09 Ultra... 80k... Compensator, and wheel bearings were replaced (along with tires and oil)

High mileage should only concern you, if re-selling for a profit is important. Once you go past 80k.... re-sale value no longer matters

I wonder how many miles the OP has on his '08' bike now, considering he posted this thread 5 1/2 years ago!

These things will go well over 100K with good maintenance. It doesn't take synthetic oil or any voodoo magic to accomplish, just take care of them as described by the MoCo and they will run forever. A buddy pulled his 80" apart at 80 some K and there was minumul wear and tear on the hard parts. He took a mic and caliper to everything being prepared to replace if needed, but that wasn't the case. They are like a john deere in simplicity and will last like one if taken care of.

'08 Wide Glide with 136K,

No issues with engine, clutch or tranny. Started burning a little oil at 120K, dealer did a compression and leak down test and the numbers were a little low.

Bike was still under extended warranty, so the top end was replaced with 103" jugs, pistons and heavier valve springs. I paid to add cams and replace the drive belt.

Bike runs great but riding time is shared with a 2011 Limited, which is about to hit 50K.

This is an old thread!

I posted on this thread back in August of 2010 and was proud of my 60,000 miles on my 08 RKC. I have added a Limited to the garage so now I only ride the RKC to commute so it's only made it to 103,000 miles. Still going strong and the engine has never been opened up except the primary. Someday soon I'll check the cam chain tensioners but haven't yet.

Mine is at 75,000 right now. I take really good care of it (or should I say the dealer does), always use Syn3. Runs as good now as ever, and problems have been few.

I think high miles can be expected if ridden sanely and oil and filter are changed regularly.
