My bike is smooth at idle, I get a little vibes at 1500-1800 rpm but no more than I would think is normal. At idle the front mount looks like it is definitely taking out the vibes the way it is moving, and the bike is pretty smooth.

It is very important to follow the torque settings on the front mount, I think some may tighten down the center through bolt too tight which would cause excessive vibration. I believe the torque is 15-18 lbs, and it does not seem to be very tight at that setting but the mount needs to be able to do its job. I think the 79D works fine.

From what I have heard about the Buell mount, I would stay away from it.

Ditto on the Buell mount: Some say it works well but fails sooner than the HD mount.

Since I have the bike up on the table I'll did into this tomorrow and follow the torque setting carefully. Thanks!

Default Installed new mount

Ok, I’ve work on my EGC today and this is the results.
My main objective was to install the new revision motor mount hoping that it would reduce the vibration. But I also wanted to look into reducing the pull to the left. I have read threads on this and I wanted to try one idea. I did check the torque on the rear swing arm bushings, and then proceeded to install the new motor mount, the 97D the latest revision. After that I adjusted the top stabilizer in 1 ˝ turn to see if this would cure the pulling issue… Then went for a ride, minus the saddle bags and felt very little pull, but this time it was in both directions. The bike would travel 100 or 200 feet and then drift to one side or the other.
Now I am thinking maybe the bushings in the rear swing arm may be causing this issue. But not to get too far ahead of myself, I returned to the barn, slipped on the saddlebags and went for another ride. Now mind you I carry about 15lbs in the left bag and as I went down the road, again she pulled to the left.
So now I am thinking is it the weight in the saddlebag??? Back to the barn and I emptied the bag out and again went on a test drive. Again I noticed a bit of a pull both ways. Nothing as drastic as the constant pull to the left that I experienced with the bag full.
So I believe that the way the weight is placed on the bike will cause the bike to pull in the direction of the heavier weight.
Tomorrow I will return the top stabilizer to the original position and again take her for a test drive. Hopefully I will have the same results as with the bags emptied...
As far as the new mount, I did notice about a 40% reduction in vibration.

I never had a pull to the left problem, or even to the right for that matter. I have never adjusted the linkage rod though. I think it might be something else causing the problem?

Dealer replace MM on my 06 Ultra and the vibration got worse. I also had broked fairing monts. Bought a 09 Ultra and the newly designed moter mounts are great. Idle and running vibrations reduced by 2/3.

I have been reading alot of this forum, as well as others about the drifting to the left issue. I just thought I would try one of the fixes I read about. But I did start this thread on the motor mount replacement and after responces from others I was able to replace the correct one and come up with favorable results.
The drifting may just be caused by unballanced loading of weight, and after adjusting the linkage rod back to the original position, I will know for sure if it was the weight issue causing the drift.

I checke my front mount (2006 RKC w / 8500 miles ) and the lower portion of the front mount is nearly gone. I have a service manual, but could not find specific instructions on replacing the mount. Do instructions come witht he new 79D mount or can someone post them. Thanks

Ensure bike is upright/level, unbolt regulator, remove center link bolt, remove motor mount bolts, jack motor to replace mount.

I did not have any instructions with mine: But install isn’t too hard. Get bike on a lift or secure it on a table. And yes, level as possible and vertical. Support the motor with a small jack; then remove center bolt and frame mount bolts of the motor mount itself. Then loosen the brace that is on top of the motor mount to the engine. You need only back off the nuts to where the bolt is even to the nut (this is the black engine support that is on top of the motor mount, which the nuts are accessible from the underside of the bike. I also loosened the 2 nuts for the regulator but you may not need to. Raise the motor and with lifting the loosened bracket you should be able to slip the mount up and out of the frame. Install is just the following the procedures, but you should also bump or bounce the motor once or twice (I did mine by lifting the engine a half inch or so) and dropping it onto the rubber mount. You do not want any binding there. Watch your torque settings on the mount…

Thanks guys
Went to the local dealer. I told them I needed a new mount for my 2006 RKC with 8500 miles. They seem surprised that it was broken and never heard of any bulletins and of course wanted retail price. They did acknowledge that the part number had been superceded a few times to the 79D and of course had to order it.....honestly there is far more knowledge and helpful experience
on this board that any dealer can offer
