Lower motor all the way down. Install link bolt to frame and torque all bolts to spec!

Time for a couple beers!
Here's another posts that covers it as well.

I didn't notice that in his post, no, I did not unhook the stabilizer rod at all when I did mine.

Ok, it must be the center bolt that ataches the plate to the top of the motormount. Thanks...

Default Mount issue

My 07 FLHR front mount is de-laminating. Looks like it is cracked all around the top and getting excessive engine vibe @ idle. On my way to the dealer this AM to see if it will be covered under warrenty. Only have a bit over 7,100 miles. Are most going with the 79D mount over the 79C?

I agree with mtclassic. It is a warranty issue but if you are on an extender you pay the first $50... My mount cost me $53 and change so letting them do the install is a win win situation.

Default I just installed a 79D engine mount

My 2006 RKC has 8000 relatively gentle miles. It was an early O6 model purchased in September of 2005. Noticed my front mount was cracked on both the top an bottom rubber, not destroyed or collapsed, but ugly enough that I wanted to replace it. Local dealer said the mounts were on a two or three week back order. Called Hales HD, they had a bunch in stock and said they were having good luck with them. I order one (about 34.00 from them, 43.00 list). To my surprise, they overnighted it to me. I installed it yesterday, carefully using all the correct torque specs, especially on the center bolt. I think a lot of people have problems in that they way over torque the center bolt, crushing the mount and taking out all the flex. I took a nice ride today...bike was noticably smoother, especially at idle...even smoother than when I got it. Although I was displeased that the mount failed prematurely and the Harley doesnt consider this a safety issuy, i was happy with the results of using the 79D mount.

Guys, I am trying to troubleshoot what I thought might be a tire problem, but maybe I have a bad motor mount and I'm just feeling it and assuming it's a tire problem as I have new Metz 880 tires.

What do you feel riding to suspect a problem with your motor mounts? I have also notices somewhat more feel (through the bars and seat) of low rpm vibration, but my primary concern is when I get up to 60mph I start to feel a vibration through the frame that is almost like a tire out of balance or a imperfection/out of round of some sort.. but it seems to be in harmony with the engine rpm as well. That is, more noticable when in 6th gear (2200 rpm say) and 5th gear a 3000 rpm.

This is on a stage 1 07 Electraglide with 18K miles. Soem cold weather miles her in New England, and I may have got oil on the front one on a couple of oil changes.

Thanks for any help understanding how to identify a gone mount. I will go look closely at mine.
