I just bought a set of rinehart slip-on pipes. I was not interested in going with the tru duals just quite yet. I will when my other motor work is completed. Can I get away with installing the rineharts on the stock head pipes with out having to add any form of tuning device. I also was reading a lot about those xied's. I have rush slip-ons now and I have had no problems what so ever with those just curious if these will be the same?
If you're gonna get tru duals, I'd hold off on the rinehart slip ons. See if you can return them because the tru dual headers accept a different diameter muffler than the slip on cans. The slip on rineharts have a different part number than the tru dual rinehart. You can get tru dual pipes that will match slip on or stock diameter mufflers, but why not get a completely tuned exhaust system for the most performance gain?
I have Kuryakyn Crusher slipons on my 2007 Street Glide with the stock headpipes and I also have the XiEDs and I also added the K&N direct replacement air filter. I have not changed or added anything else and do not plan to. The bike runs perfectly. Smooth, strong, loud and proud and considerably cooler as well.
With the slipons only it ran OK. When I added the XiEDs it was noticeably smoother and cooler and stronger. With the freer flowing K&N filter, it just got better.
I check my spark pluge regularly to confirm it is running in the range I want and with all 3 items in place the colour and condition of the plugs is just right and the performance is excellent!
Good luck and ride safe.
what model xieds do I need for my 07 with just slip-ons. I bought the pipes used and I am going to keep them. I got a good deal on them and well just sell them when I get the motor work and duals. Thats next winter. This winter is paint.
I used the 13.8/1 model from Nightrider.com which are the richer mixture of the two they sell. I would suggest you go to the website and check it out but the 13.8/1 worked fine for me. By the way, I lost about 10% gas mileage which is minimal compared to the improvements I experienced.
Good luck!
Rinehart Slip-ons will work fine without any further modifications necessary. I'm told that you only need to change the fuel map if you change the air intake.
BTW, does anyone know if the brackets under the saddlebags are adjustable laterally?
