Where there's a will, there's a way. If you're good at body work, you can glass in the holes or bondo, either way will require paint if you don't cover them with something like the chrome pieces described above.

I made my plate mount to fill the holes and got the under light, laydown brake light. You can see the hockeypuck style signals I have in there for now. Been like this for a few years and looking at changing things up back there. Hope this gives you some ideas.....
