i have a 2008 street glide with 3400 miles.i will be riding and then come to a stop and the thing is idleing at about 2000rpms!then some days it doesnt do it at all, although it seems to be happening more and more.i can turn the throttle foward to bring it back to normal ,but if i let go it will go right back up.new to the site and have found alot of great stuff thought someone could help with this.
Normal..... It's a ploy by the Saudi's to keep you dependant on foreign oil by causing you to burn more fuel. It's an upgrade from the normal revving '07's and one you weren't even charged for.
j/k

Had this happen after a fuel stop recently. Was told by dealer service that you can reset the idle by switching ignition on/off (let fuel pump cycle) about 10 times with kill switch in 'on' position. Tried it and it worked.
Reset the throttle by cycling the bike on/off. I believe the manual will tell you how to do it. The problem is your hand was on the throttle when you shut it down, now its stuck it those rpms till it is reset.
I make sure the rpms are low when I shut the bike down, in other words I sit at idle for about 5 seconds then turn the key and never use the on off button since my hand will be near the throttle if I were to use it. I was away from home when this happened to me and far from the manual so I called the dealer on the road and they told me how to do it. I have since forgotten the way but I find it's easier to avoid the situation rather than remember and preform the reset.
