Laid Her Over
Bought a new one in April this year. Haven't dropped it yet.........ran into the back of a car instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Didn't break any bones, just broke the bike to the tune of $4500.00,
and totaled my pride.

broke two bones in my foot and was off work for a month.
Got up and put her into gear as I didn't want to pick the beast up and have it roll down the driveway, went back around and tried to lift the bike back up, normally would have my back to it but didn't want the thing to go over the other way into the wifes car. After a couple of heave ho's got her upright and jumped on... rode down to the nearest gas station for some light and did an inspection... much to my surprize... no damage. 1st time on my SG , 2 times while partying back in the early 80's on my shovel head FXWG.

Chalk up another lesson learned for me, gawd these things ARE heavy. Good that you didn't damage your ride, it always could'a been worse.

Was out riding, toolin' down the road, and saw my wife's car in a strip mall parking lot. Hit the brakes, and started leaning to the right, to turn into the parking lot. Let go of rear brake, and started turning right, doing about 3 MPH. That dang "front brake / ground magnet" came on! Next thing I know, I am standing up to the right side of the bike, which is laying on its right side. I walked right off the bike as it went down! Lean over the bike, flipped the kickstand down, and put my back against the seat and grabbed the engine guard and bag guard, and tossed her back up. Then took off for home...
The guy in the pickup truck in the parking lot didn't finish getting out of the truck, to come help. *But he did tell my wife about the guy on the PURPLE HARLEY that dropped his bike!*
You should've been at the house when she got home!

I've got an 04 ultra classic (see sig link).
First time was at my dentist office. I was parked in a slot that sloped down behind the bike to the street and then the street was sloped up to the left. I came down to the street and got it aim uphill but somehow in the cross of the two slopes I lost vertical. Soon as I lifted my foot to go from neutral to first down I went. Got it up but it wanted to roll on the street and I couldn't hold the front brake and get on at the same time due to the angle. Just then, my dentist came running out and helped me by holding the front brake while I mounted it...lol
Second time was Sunday. Was in empty parking lot (accept for a car leaving in front of me) and had to make a slow right turn on a slope towards that car & the street. Wound up having to stop in mid-turn and gravity took over claiming the right side of the bike. I got it up but again was trying to mount it while holding the brake. Before I knew it, the bike was going down on the other side...ahhhhh This time I was able to raise it and slide the kickstand out as it cleared the ground.
Question - If the bike goes down twice in the same spot....Can I still consider that only my second time instead of the third?
Amazingly in both cases the bike pulled through without any damage (however, I did get an injector error on the console which went away after I let it set turned off a couple minutes).
So, thanks to this forum I've learned ...
1. To put it in gear before picking it up (can't believe I didn't think of that).
2. Put the kickstand down first instead of trying to lift and mount at the same time.
3. The mystical gravitational field generated by the front brake!
Thanks again.....
