That is gonna be one expensive ride. I would try a lowered seat before lowering the suspension. That may be enough to make you comfortable. Enjoy the ride.

Don't do it you won't be able to go back. lol You might want to look at mean city cycles for mods on the seat.

My local dealer let me ride an EG Standard around one day back in 2006. Traded my '04 Nightrain in for a new Streetglide the next day. I don't miss that Nightrain at all. My friends gave me a bunch of grief for buying a "bagger" but now most of them have one, too. I just laugh and get to say "I told you so".

Talking Save the Money

I suggest you save the money unless they put it towards the deal. Just take a test ride and go buy the thing and use the 200+ to buy a seat that will drop you down a bit. You may not need to lower shocks and front end... or you may... you should talk to a knowlegable dealer who can help fit you. Are you tall from the waist up or down... no joke it makes a difference... I am, 6'1 and do not have reall long legs but my torso is long. Most guys 6'1 can wear a 32" pant leg, but I'm more comfortable in a 31; although I buy the 32... to wear with boots. If it's just sneakers I can get away with a 30". Bottom line is you are going to love the bike so just find a way to make it fit or find a way to get the dealer to apply the rentle to a prenegotiated price. I'm guessing there are not many deals on 09's right now, but there are probably soft deals that include X dollars of gear. They are very very very sweet bikes and although it will ride differnt it won't take you long to master it.

I have owned an entire ****load of motorcycles of all shapes and sizes and the Ultra is a unique beast. It is a scary monster in the parking lot. Always feels like I am about to drop it. But once you get rolling it is the most comfortable, stable platform besides your old couch. You just do not want to stop riding. What a pleasure. And if the '09 really is better than the 08 (what I have) then damn it has gotta be de-luxe!

I was in a similar situation as you. I have a 98 Fatboy that me and the mrs have done alot of miles on. I picked up a 07 ultra a couple of weeks ago and for the open road there is no comparison. Love the Ultra for the 2 of us on the road. Still kept the 98 fatty as she is my baby and I still love her. I just ride her to work and around town.

I actually made that very move...I too had an 05 Deluxe...loved the bike, but wife did not like it for long rides... There is no comparison between the bikes...they are completely different...especially for 2 up riding. I can't tell you what an 09 rides like, my Ultra is an 08....

Good luck and enjoy.
