Wonder if that includes running some internally?

I just had this done on my rk custom. They quoted me roughly 800-900 (parts and labor) for the swap out with me providing the 16" chubby bars. I also eliminated the wind deflector, moved the turn signals down to the forks, replaced the stock rubber risers bushings with a more rigid bushing, braided stainless cables with internal wiring harness and new grips. I got 4 different quotes and they were all withing 50 bucks or so. I should pick it up this thursday.

I am still trying to figure out the length on the front brake cable. I am going 12 over on the throttle cables and 11 over on the clutch as suggested but don't know about the front brake. Does anyone else have a suggestion for 18inch apes.

Jeff I am going through the same thing ehre. Just came from HD, they need to get the bars and put them on, then measure, and finally order the custom length cables. So the bike owuld be sitting waiting on cables for at leats one week. Argh. They also quoted my 7-8 hours to run internally and said on those bars it cannot be ran externally, they're full of crap man! On WIld One bars, they can run either way.
Has anyone put 16"'s on a Road king Classic, if so, what cablwe lengths did you use?

What do you mean it can not be run externally. I have never heard of such a thing, but I learn something new everyday. Let me know what you find out, and I will talk to a couple of local techs and let you know if I hear something first.

Called Wild One (these guys are great, answer the phone, no waiting, answer emails quick, all around good company man!) Kinda true. They are drilled to run internally. You can do it externally, but they said where the cables come out won't allow you to mount them in the stock position, have to reangle them basically. Then he told me lots of other info: just running wires internally, maybe 1/2 hour longer at tops, hmm HD quoted me an extra 3-5 hours! Other tips of how to actually do it on my bike, off the top of his head! He had average dealer rate charges to comapre against and everything.
What am I doing, well..I called an area builder who I know has done lots of apes, real easy going, told me a few things and is getting me a quote tomorrow. Hmm, he actually said, he'll thorw the bars on, measure uo how i want and should be able to have custom length cables i two days, overnight if I want. So a 2-3 day servie for this sounds lots better than 2-3 weeks for sure! I'll know more tomorrow and post back when I get further info.

OK That makes more since I thought you were talking about the brake cable having to run internally. Let me know what you find out.

Just had they guy order everything up! All parts, inclduing genuine Harley 10% off, not too bad. To change out bars, new chrome clamps and covers, and cables, $175! Hmm, let's see, the HD dealer told me 7-8 hours at $55 an hour, I saved apretty penny. Plus htis shop has done lots of apes. He builds some awesome bikes. Everything should be in early next week and he said if it goes well I can drop it off Wed or Thurs and be riding by the weekend.
Not bad, looks like this place will be getting lots of my business in the years to come.

JS, Man, I didn't see one of your post, that your still looking. When I was at HD, they looked up a custoemr's bike order who had put the 18's on his RK...They said he went with 10" over on both. Now I don't know if that was a tight fit or what. I certainly do not want the tight fuit running like thye do on drag bars, I love the big loop going out front.
