Ridin' in the rain?........Hmm.......I agree, these bikes are not made to set in the garage and look pretty. Rode 400mi. in the rain to Tennessee, wouldn't change a thing....:-)
just got back from riding the highway to the sun in Glacier. although we rode ( 1- UC and 2 Sporties) thru rain, sleet and fog for two days, it was still worth the trip. its all about the ride and adventure
Rode to work today, and as a matter of fact the return trip was in rain. Usually I prefer not to ride in rain if I have a choice, but when I do I really don't mind it. Even found it enjoyable on a few occasions. The worst thing about it is the cars. I swear, the worse conditions are, the more stupid people drive.
the day i got my motorcycle endorsment, started raining on the last part, passed and rode 1.5 hours back home, pouring down buckets the whole way home, hate to say it but i really like riding in the rain now, just not to crazy bout rain at night.
I don't mind riding in the rain, but I HATE those dang ole Tractor Trailer trucks that are always in a hurry and have to pass you going 80 miles per hour. I like Illinois and wisconsin, where the speed limit for trucks is 55 mph. I wish alabama would do that too. I can't ride at night tho....can't see worth a sheet. But daytime rain riding can be comfortable this time of year. Bldr
Anyone can ride when its sunny and 80. Rain very seldom holds me up. Acceleration out of turns should be made with caution. Been side-e-ways a few times
Sure isn't fun...
We have ridden in all kinds of rain from steady downpours to thunder and lightning storms right overhead, to hurricanes, to the tail end of tropical storms where you wonder 'why in the name of hell am I out on a bike in this stuff'. Worst I have ever encountered was a night ride from the ferry at Argentia Newfoundland to St. John's in what appeared to be a fairly dense fog but had wind and rain coming at you sideways. On top of the rain there was the white stuff - snow, notwithstanding that it was June and was 'supposed' to be 'warm'. I was wearing a full face helmet and had rain and water entering the helmet from underneath.
It is all part of the motorcycling experience and I think there comes a point that even the most adventurous and perhaps survival conscious has to take shelter. And this summer wow, if it is raining we must be on the bike.
don't really mind the rain most of the time as long as it isn't cold but i don't like to ride to work in the rain it takes too long to dry out. i guess i need a new rain suit mine doesn't work so good. coming home in the rain is fine. one guy at work asked me this morning if i rode i said noo he said well its raining so i thought you would have.
the best lighting show i have ever seen was a couple of years ago riding home from work at 11pm in the pouring rain.
i don't like raqin x i think it ruins lexan. i wear a full face and my faceshields are antifog and cost about $60 but i think they are worth it as the antifog really works.
if it is just a mist i wipe it off with my glove now and then but in a steady rain its a waste of time turn your head helps a little and use a quallity cleaner maid for plastic windshields and faceshields
