Now it is all about timing. Im gonna trade my 05 FLHRS in on a Road Glide. Im thinking about waiting until about March. I was about to have my cams replaced and replace HDs weak a$$ chain with gears but now I think Ill just replace tensioner shoes! The only draw back I see to the trade is colors. WOW the RG's colors are weak and limited! Is it just me or should all HD colors be available for ALL HD models?!?!?!?!
I rode the SERG and SEUltra yesterday dealer demo, I prefer the RG in City, handles as good as my RKC but the UC for serious long haul, Wind is a factor on the RG, no factor on the UC. Rg looks cool and better for tight turning, guess you could say its like comparing a Caddy STS to an El Dorado. The SE 110 sucks, not as strong as my HD/HQ 103 hybrid, hot as hell also.
I have an 06 FLHRSI and I for some reason I'm wanting a Road Glide, I had an 06 Street Glide for 29 days back in Jan. 2006 and sold it because of the wind buffing to my head. I guess i need to ride a RG before i make decision. On the other hand i could just put the 10k difference between my RK and a new RG and up grade mine with new wheels and some motor work. Good luck with you choice!!!!!
Ive heard just the oposite on wind. The RG having a frame mounted fairing is MUCH smoother at hwy speed because the wind hitting the fairing doesnt transfer to the forks. Unfortunately I can NOT swing the 31K for the CVO. My biggest gripe is the paint choices! As I said before I think all colors shold be available on ALL models!
Some people say the RG has a lot of buffeting mine didn't have what some people describe but had some, a clearview and a set of lower's and it was perfect for me, a lot wind on RG's come from under the shark nose so the lowers really make a difference there!
I just back from Ocean City Bike Week day trip yesterday and we put on 400 miles which is a lot for us in one day. Wind was not a problem, had more wind concerns honestly on my Sportster. I did have some buffeting of my helmet before the dealer put on a 3" taller shield for me since they cracked the other one when putting it on and now the buffeting is gone. There should still be some 08 Anniversary editions out there if that's a color scheme you like..Save some coin too. If you have to have an 09 you can always do custom paint a few years down the road and have something exactly what you want. Either way I don't think you can go wrong with a Rode Glide, I know I love mine.

I had an 05 RG and currently have a 07 RG. I put lowers and tour pak on both along with CB. I'm not sure what masterblaster is referring to about "wind" on a RG. Cross winds impact both bikes the same. Head and diagonal winds tend to push the batwing around. Since the shark nose is bolted to the frame stearing is is not impacted by wind.
The Road Glide is the BEST HANDLING TOUR BIKE HD MAKES.
Having had Ultra Classic, Road King, and a few other HD's my '07 Roadie runs rings around the others over-all. People that say the RG has a lot of buffeting just don't know how to set it up right.
