I searched through the previous posts on headlight and passing light bulb replacement. have gone with the sylvania silverstar 9003 H4 in the headlamp. Looks great.
I also read that the auxillary lamps take an 881 right angle bulb to replace it. Problem is when I went to change them, they look to be a sealed lamp that the entire thing is replaced.
If that is the case, anyone know where to get the replacement for the passing lamps, preferrably on the silverstar type so all the lighting is the same? Many thanks in advance.
Don't know about '05 but the older ones had two versions. There was the sealed beam which was the factory supplied unit...no bulb...have to replace the whole thing. Then there is the halogen replacement which has a reflector and a bulb, which you CAN change.
Just another one of those things the MOCO put on the bike that they want to sell you a replacement.
Hi, I am fairly new to the forum and can't see how to just post a new listing so I thought I would jump in on this one. I have an 05 ultra classic and it looks like the "bulb" or lighting for the fuel guage is out or is going dim. How hard is it to put a new bulb in? The dealership said bring it by and they'll do it..but I sure hate to have my bike in service for 1-2 days if it easy to put in myself. I've taken off the fairing before so that shouldn't be an issue. Any help will be appreciated.
If you've taken the fairing off you've done the hard part. Next time you take the fairing off look at the fuel gauge bezel. the bulbs are held in with press lock tabs. I forget if you twist or squeeze and pull but they remove almost effortlessly. Swap out the bulb and you're done. Definately NOT worth PAYING the dealership to do. If your bike is brand spanking new and you are having this issue then by all means let them take a look, especially if they are all dong it. You may be having an electrical ground issue which is worth them looking at. Otherwise, swap the bulb out and move on. As an afterthought, it may just be partially in the hole from getting bumped or tugged the last time you were playing around inside the fairing and just may need to be re-inserted.
Have a well Lit 1,
Moose
thanks a bunch...I think I see a faint light near it...so maybe it just needs readjustment. The other guages are fine so it doesn't look like a short. Can you get the bulbs at any parts store or is it hd only? Thanks
