Dip stick on the Road King has one side for jiffy stand readings and other side for side car attached or bike upright. Caution in manual states to never read dip stick when oil is cold for an accurate reading. Page 1-11 in '08 touring manual.

Dip stick has measurements on both sides, one for hot, one for cold. Both on jiffy stand.

That is incorrect for the 08 touring models. One side of the dip stick is for normal hot/cold check on side stand.....the other side is for bikes with a side-car.

BTW: The engine oil dip stick should be screwed/inserted all the way in to check the oil. The trans dip stick does not need to be screwed in.....just resting on the threads is fine.

I've always called it a side-stand (to differentiate it from a center-stand).

My 2001 RK manual says the trans is checked straight up and to screw dip stick in and unscrew to check level.

LOL...this has turned out just the way I figured but still I had to ask... Now on to the next debate... Metric bikes have a kickstand and HD has a JIFFY STICK... or dont they...lol. And by the way...not sure how to answer the question as to whether or not I have a MOM... being she passed away in 2000, do I really have one or do I need to answer that by saying I HAD one????? Anyway we all look at this in a differant perspective dont we..lol Thanks for all the imput from all you fine folks.
