Default Pressure Washing

Anyone using a pressure washer (on a low setting) for cleaning their rides, especially their wheels, or tight spots. It would be ideal if you could use a cleaner you let sit and then power rinse it. Do you think it would do any damage to seals, bearings etc.

I have been using power washers on my HD for years. The only problem I ever had was with my 2000 Sporty. The blinker switches got wet and would not work until they dried. I now power wash the engine, frame, wheels and tires.

It would be nice if it made fast work of the spokes on laced wheels too. I might have to invest in one that has adjustable pressure.

I just walked in from outside and washing my bike. I have a power washer (electric model) from WalMart, and it works great. I also have the MasterBlaster Dryer 8hp 2motor unit to dry it off. Two good decisions for taking care of my scoot. Never had any problems. I like to spray down tires, wheels with simple green, then spray. Works great.

Do you still work the cleaner in with a sponge, microfiber cloth or anything, or do you just spray cleaner on and power rinse it? I realize you have to wax after, but the least amount of abrasion from sponges, etc will lessen swirl marks and such, right?

Default pressure washing

Great thread, thanks for posting it. I have used a pressure washer once after riding in the love bugs in Florida. Looks like I'm going to have to purchase one.

yep, I'd think it would be a godsend for getting off the love bugs. The acid in them can literally eat through clearcoat and paint.

I'd be very careful with the power washer around electric’s.

I've found enough moisture in my connectors with even ever hitting mine with a power washer!

Have gone though most of my connection/contacts with contact cleaner and then packed with silicone dielectric grease to keep water intrusion out.

And most especially with the ignition switch and speedo or any other gauges / radio for that matter!

I use a pressure washer each time I wash my bike. I also use the S100 cleaner - just spray on, pressure wash it off, and dry with lots of clean towels. Works like a charm and I'm able to do a complete washing in about 30 minutes.
