Had my SG go over really slow the other day in the garage and lucked out also. I was pushing it into the garage from the right side and did not notice the kick stand got bumped up from the curb. Started to lay it over onto the kickstand and noticed at the point of no return it was not there !!! Not a single scratch even on the bag without the guard. I think one of my next add ons will be the guards for the bags...just in case my stupidity kicks in again.

No you are not the only one who thinks the FL looks better with the engine guard. Its also a great mounting point for the highway pegs.

I once laid down my '03 FLHRC after riding through a slick washout and gassing it too soon. Rear tire spun out and down I went on the left side at about 10 mph. Well I was amazed that my engine guard and saddlebag guards protected ALL of the paint work, not a scratch. After that incident I wouldn't be without them. The first accessory I bought for my '08 FLTR was the saddlebag guard rails.

On at least three occasions I've had a brain fart with my jiffy stand, twice I was lucky and once not so. I ruined the fairing on my '00 FLTRSEI when I tipped it (forgot the stand) at a gas station and even though I tried to lay it down slow I caught the fairing on the pump island curbing and cracked it big time. Sure makes you feel like an idiot. This usually happens to me when I'm feeling fatigued from a long ride or I've let my mind get cluttered with a bunch of life's worries instead of keeping my mind on what I'm doing.

So anyway don't feel bad it happens to all of us, whether or not we're willing to admit it.

I'm glad your bike escaped damage, but I'd sure put that guard back on.

If you prefer the "no bar" look, leave them off. If you're as scared of dropping your scoot as some of the rest of these guys then put 'em back on. There's always going to be an occasion where you might tip over. It's happened to me with my E-glide and Streetglide. Haven't scratched a bag yet - bar or no bar. Even if it did you just fix it and go on.

Haven't done it on this one yet but have done it before. Little or no damage. Just lucky!

The day I picked up my RKC I stopped at a buddy's place, put out my jiffy stand, leaned or over and I guess the jiffy stand wasn't lined up perfect and she folded back. I tried to stop her from going but man, for a bike that feels so light and nimble, you can really get a reality check of how heavy **** is when she's on her way down I popped my shoulder out trying to save her... thank god for that engine guard, there wasn't a mark on her

Laid her down twice when exhausted and the bars did the trick. I like the look without the bars, but I don't have the time or the money to fix the mess I'd make once or twice a year.

Never ever push or get on your bike from the right side.....its bad ju-ju. Only bad **** can happen after that. Cant get rid of the bad ju-ju til something bad happens.....also never hang your helmet off the left side grip.....more bad mu mu or whatever.

PS: I got a whole list of all the bad luck things you should NEVER do unless you want the bad ju-ju on you!

Bad ju ju? New biker term from the other side? Are battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities of this present darkness?
