recently purchased a pcIII from fuel moto for my 2002 FLHRI 22K miles bigbored 95" SE slipons and Stage 1 filter. So here goes! Jamie at fuel moto sent the unit with the map in it and ever since i installed it i have been pullling my hair out trying to figure out what the hell is the problem. before i installed the pcIII i had noticed a rattle or ping from the cylinders. i have only had this bike for about 3K miles. and has always had a minor ping but after a hot day with the wife on the back noticed it was worse. took it to the stealer and they said i needed a fuel managemet system, why after the bike has 22K miles it all of a sudden needs this system is beyond my knowlege.. the say it is hurting the motor to continue running it like this. All mods have been done since the bike was new thought. but the stealer says it was running lean in all throttle positions and that i had to keep rpms above 1800. after pcIII install bike runs much richer but has a studder or popping around 2500 -3000 rpms. i have been playing phone tag with jamie from fuelmoto. and trying different maps. my problem is IM CHEAP! and i cant really justify taking it to the stealer for a $275 Dyno run. any ideas what could be causing the studder. also my plugs are kinda black says rich to me, but could be wrong. have read alot on this forum and trust your experiences. thanks in advance.
You can justify the $275 tune...your bike isn't running correctly due to a canned map. Get a custom tune and be done with it. It really is your only option at this venue.
Find a certified Dynojet tuner on their website. Still try to get hold of Jamie. He is great and helped me tune my 06 UC even though I bought the PCIII from someone else. You will be very happy when you get it right.
I had a similar problem. I bought a PC III from Fuel Moto with a preinstalled map. My bike ran like sh*t. I emailed Jamie a couple of times and got no response. I guess he doesn't want to deal with you unless its a really simple fix. Anyway, I took the bike to a Dynojet tuner and had them tune it. I'm really glad I did. The bike was running really lean with the map that came with the PC III. The lesson I learned is never use a "canned" map for your bike. Spend the money and have it tuned the right way. You won't regret it.
