Default Rear wheel not aligned

Need a little help here. I just purchased this SERG a month ago and I'm starting to go over it. Now I've never owned a rubber mount bike before, so I don't know how these get aligned. The rear wheel is over to the left 3\4" and it's not plumb. It's over to the left(belt) side so I was thinking maybe the belts tight. But it's all the way down in the inspection hole. So I would take think a tight belt would be ruled out. Could the bushings be that bad that it would over that far, or is the whole motor out of alignment? I don't know much about how the swingarm connects, or where it pivots from. Here are a few pics. Any help would be appreciated.

You should get the factory manual for the bike and check out how to align the wheels.
It's actually somewhat involved but very do-able for most people.
What year is the bike , and how many miles are on it?
The rear wheel is positioned by the top and front torque links near the front of the engine.
As the engine tilts and moves side to side , the rear wheel gets aligned to the frame.
It's pretty wierd , but they have been like this for many years and it's kinda interesting how it works.
I have read some articles on the web describing how to make it easier with 2 8' flourescent tubes and a couple bungee cords.
You should also buy the 10lb tension gauge from Harley to properly adjust the drive belt when you're done , it's pretty cheap and makes the adjustment pretty cut and dry.
Hope this helps a little.

thanks--the bike has 36K on it. I've been riding a Shovel forever, and the suspension is bicycle-like. Time to learn something new.

quickster my friend,
You have the old style belt adjusters.
I venture to say those are out of whack.

Make sure it is not the sheet metal. I have seen rear fenders way off to one side. If the bike has been dropped and tweaked it can look like that. Just looking at the pictures it looks like sheet metal to me.

the bike has front and rear guards, but they have some minor scuffs. Going to check the fender tomorrow. The axle adjusters are the stamped ones, but they're not caved in.

I wanted to check for fender clearance because I want to change the back tire. The one on it is worn flat. It's 1\4" to the tire on the left, and 3\4 on the right side. But if you look down the bike back to front, the sheetmetal lines up. Going to get a better look tomorrow.
