trying to replace BAS on my 03 RoadGlide in hopes of curing a recurring electrical issue - bike quits for no apparent reason.
bought new BAS for $58.00 and figured it'd be an easy swap out under a side panel or under the seat. guess what? i can't find it...
also apreciate any ideas on what would cause this problem. bike was almost totalled in a wreck in 2005 and instead of replacing it, i opted to have it rebuilt. bad plan, it's never been the same since then. read and heed, i'd never do it again. just get a new one.
bike runs fine until suddenly it just stops altogether, no lights, nothing. feels like i just flipped the kill switch, except there are NO lights on the dashboard. i usually can coast over to road side, wait a few seconds or in some cases a few minutes and it'll start right up. only seems to occur at low speeds in 1st, 2nd or 3rd gear. might happen 2 or 3 times in one afternoon or might not happen for thousands of miles. either way, you can see that it is difficult to depend on as a daily driver and even dangerous if it happened on the freeway.
what else can i tell you? punched out to 95", SE aircleaner, thunderheader exhaust. bike was a real reliable unit until "my local HD dealer" helped me out. they, of course, can't duplicate the issue, and two other shops can't either.
I would spend 6 dollars and replace the 50 amp CB. That was my problem. Bike was shutting down and that fixed it. The CB is right in front of the Bat and the BAS should be right behind the Bat.
