PCIII 8 months now and bike runs great. My dyno tuner gave the thumbs up, thats what he likes to use. Made a dramatic difference, real satisfied with the result.

PCIII

Why? I've had good experience with them & no problems. Never treid SERT. Strictlky personal preference.
Pros? Very tuneable. Large and accessible maps database. Very large install base, so there are plenty of resources in the event you have ???'s.
Cons? Some dealerships may whine about them (others recommend them)

Don't overlook a TFI/DFO unit.
My 05 RKC (SE slip-ons, stage 1) had serious decel popping and would not run smooth between 1700 and 2600 rpm. Since I do not plan any more engine work (no 95", or cams, etc.), I went with the Techlusion unit. What an amazing difference and it was about $150 and not a difficult install. Good factory support too.
That said, I had the thing for a couple months before putting it on. The the Terry Component II came out. I would have considered that had I not had already had the TFI. The terry product requires a bung for the O 2 sensor. That plus the unit cost could bring the total to $700 or so but will work with all sorts of engine mods.
Give thought to what you're going to do engine-wise. If you keep it near stock you may not need the PCIII or SERT.

SERT.

Watch what you buy as some shops prefer one over the other wether it be because they don't have a clue how to use them or they just have more experience with 1 over the other.

Pros- Don't have to carry on the bike or find a location for it like you do with the PCIII.

Cons- as stated some shops don't have a clue as to what the SERT even is.

One reason few may know about SERT is that there is no reference on the H-D site to a term called SERT or Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner. Is called something else by Harley? There is something called Screamin' EagleÂŽ Street Legal Ignition System. Same thing? It allows revs to 6200 rpm.

I have used TFI/DFO unit on both my 05 heritage and my 06 Ultra, both with stage one aircleaner and rinehart exhaust.
Could'nt be more pleased with the install and the performance of the bikes.

I agree with Ricoman and Dragonbones; if my bike were Stage 1 and going to stay that way, at least for the forseeable future, I'd go with the DFO. There's just no need for screwing with the ignition timing at this point.

Go to their Screamin Eagle Catalog and you will find the SERT.
