Overpass II for wife and me also. The money and convenieance you save on froggs toggs will be spent in chemicals and your time cleaning melted pant legs off your pipes.
Thanks for all the feedback. No, we live in Washington state, yes we ride in the rain alot and this gear has lasted wonderfully. And 9 years from my persective is but a flash :-)
The locals all have their favorite gear, I just though before buying another set from HD, that maybe I would ask around.
The only complaint I have about the harley gear, is gettinginto the dang pants. I just don't bend as good as I used to! And I can't stay balanced on one leg worth a hoot anymore either thank you very much! :-)
I am also wondering if anyone just uses their leather coats and just puts on raingear pants. I guess I'm wondering how long I could stay dry in my FXRG midweight leather coat and a pair of rain pants. . .
Most of the Frog Tog users I know end up looking like a smeltered mess after the pipe melting the pant legs get through with them. One friend had a wet crotch through the seems on one downpour with his. I've used many brands and it seems most of the cheaper ones seem to balloon on me or leave me wet or hot. I finally spent a little more than I did with the basic Dry Rider and such brands. My present choice is TourMaster and the fit, the features, and dryness are the best I can expect from rain gear at an affordable cost. I recommend TourMaster and although there are probably many others that are great I am really glad I have a rain suit now that I love.
I was riding in a pair of army surplus PVC bibs and a leather jacket. Kept me dry. I went ahead and bought a rain jacket instead for comfort. the leather kept me dry but got heavier as the day went by.
Themensh: For the record, we hit a lot of rain in AZ this year. It is too hot to ride in the desert in the summer so we head up in the mountains to beat the heat. That means afternoon and evening thunderstorms. We hit some pretty wicked storms this summer.
Some friends have Frog Togs and like them. Another had a cheap rain suit from Target store. It ripped when he raised his leg to get on the bike. Haven't heard any complaints about the HD suits, 'cept maybe the price. Guess you get what you pay for.
I picked up a set of these in orange/black from the Motorcycle Superstore for around $79. It has heat resistant panels on the insides of both legs and has kept me dry as a bone. I also picked up a set of boot gaiters to keep my tootsies dry!
I got a pair of Frogg Toggs to store in a saddlebag in emergency when I wasn't wearing my Bellstaff textile jacket and overpants that are waterPROOF.
I'm wearing the Frogg Toggs more and more. They store compactly, they're waterproof and cheap. Yeah, if you rub up against a hot pipe they would melt. I hear that complaint all the time but you really don't have to be that careful to stay away from the pipes. It takes less than a minute to get them on along side the road compared to friends that are fighting with their Harley Gortex pants. All dressed and your keys are in your underlayer pocket? With the non-bib trousers, just reach under the elasticized waste band and get them out.
