I have a 05 Road King Classic and would like to purchase the heated grips. Can anyone tell me how they install, specifically where the wires go and what type of wiring I will have to do. If anyone has pictures, or install instructions that would be awesome.
I installed heated grips on my 05 Ultra. Probably similar. From what I recall on mine:
The right grip connects to the left grip by running the wiring through the handlebars. The left grip has the power cable that goes into the fairing, then under the gas tank. Grounds near the battery and the positive connects to the fuse block. there is a special Aux connector that is used near the fuse block.
Not a hard install, took about 30 minutes. But I already had my right grip, fairing, tank, seat and battery pulled.
Here's a tip: use a length of string with a piece of cloth tied to it and a vacuum cleaner to fish the wire through the handlebars.
Make sure you are very careful on the right grip or you will break the brake light switch. You need to shim the brake handle with a small wedge to prevent it from catching on the brake switch in the housing when you put things back together!
