Hey All,
Awhile back had the dealer replace the fuel coupler on the tank, it's a one piece with a line that goes to the fuel pump in the tank. They said they had to fight to install it.
Since then, about once a ride the engine will quit running! Let off gas, release clutch, runs again! Does not matter if I'm nailing it or just putting along. Doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason to it. Could they have mucked up the pump?

Mine would quit when I stopped. Riding along fine...come to a stop sign..down shift...pull up to the stop sign clutch in and engine just idled down to zero. Hit the starter and it would start right back up and idle fine. Next stop same thing. Took it to the dealer and they checked for any codes(none) said they rest everything. Bike runs fine now. oh ya 07 ultra

 

The old girl runs fine, except like once a ride. I've been adding Injector cleaner, doesn't happen as often now or as extreme. I don't know the symptoms of a dirty injector. Would it happen w/o warning?

The funny part is I've been riding w/o a motorcyle endorsment for 30 years, the day I go and get my stamp, the bike starts acting up....should have stayed an outlaw LOL

 

Now the friggin engine lite is coming and going, still cuts out. Had the idiot lite on and the bike seemed to run fine. Exactly what does the lite monitor?

 

To my understanding if light stay's on problem is happening now. If light comes on after start up and goes out code is in history. If you have an electrical service manual I believe you can retrieve code by installing jumper on pins 1&2 of service plug under side cover and follow instructions in manual to translate code. Code will flash at engine light.

Thanks NOCARB, still think the dealer screwed something up, then again I'm paranoid. But nobody sneaks up on a paranoid!

 

They may have. This way you will know if they screwed up and you learned something. Can't know too much.

 

Sounds like there may be a gas tank venting problem.
