I'll be getting rid of my Super Glide as well come early next year. The Street Glide has captivated me!! I know how you feel with wanting to keep both, not really an option for me tho. I'm looking forward to a more comfortable ride.
Traded my 06 dyna on a 07 flht and I wont be selling or trading this bike on anything. The wife love's the bike and no complaints anymore about seating. We ride everywhere together now.
the problem with getting rid of the Dyna is I've spent the last 3 years customizing and making it mine. basically replaced or powder coated every Krome piece on her. my license plate even sez XKROME. i love this bike and have grown sentimental toward it...probably one of the few things in my life that i do
XK,
I posted to you on the dyna site also. All the advice you are getting here is spot on. Take it from a guy who has both. If you can't have both the bagger is your best bet overall. There is a reason even the young guys are moving to baggers. I purchased a fat bob to have a fun bike. The purchase was purely emotional. After putting up with the wind noise and wind pressure at highway speeds I parked it and only rode my '07 Ultra. I almost dumped the fat bob until I tried a detachable windshield. I'll keep the bob for when friends and family visit but, trust me, the bagger will see the majority of riding time. Besides, if you like to customize just check out the awesome rides on this thread and site. I did something similar to my road king that big sky did to his although his has a much cooler paint job than mine did. After all that I sold it and bought an Ultra. Remember, all said, it's a machine. You can make the road king all yours too. Try this- Do an all day ride on your dyna. Leave at seven a.m. and get back at 5 p.m. stopping only to eat and relieve yourself. Then rent or borrow a road king the next weekend (giving your *** and back time to recover) and ride it the same route you rode the week before. If you don't notice a huge difference you are in denial. If you bag a bagger you'll never look back.

I am fortunate enough to have two bikes. I love my Springer and have a lot of time and money in her. But when my wife asked me the other day which one I would keep if I could only have one, it only took me a second to answer the SG, of course. As a daily versatile rider, you can't beat the baggers, IMHO.
Now which of the touring bikes to get is a whole 'nother discussion.
XKROME
Why don't you look around for a late model tourer thats been put down the road. Then you can have the best of both worlds the dyna for around town and the tourer for the wife on the longer trips. The tourer will be cheap to buy plus it looks like you enjoy customizing your bikes.
Traded my 02 Low Rider that I had "made mine" for an 03 Road King Custom this summer. It has taken me a long time to get used to the bigger bike and I had it up for sale or trade since I got it. The front end weight is what bothered me the most, but I found that I could ride the motorcycle test course no sweat, and ours has the serpentine set at 10 ft.
The more I ride it, the more I like it and it is becoming more "mine" by the week. It would take one heck of an offer to buy it from me now. Turned down $12,500 cash a couple of weeks ago. Just bought the K&N filter set up and will be ordering 2-1 pipes soon.
As far as seating goes, it came with a Reach seat which I found to be very uncomfortable. I run most of the time with a Saddleman Solo and have a Corbin Solo with a passenger pillion for the rare times my wife will ride.
To each his own I say thats why they make different bikes.
I put 8000 miles on my 07 Dyna and most were quite painfull meaning it rode like crap and the wind beat me to death.
I purchased an 08 EG classic 2 months ago and love it! After riding the Dyna I wonder what I was thinking when I bought it? Ya price was part of it but the enjoyment is 1000 times better. I wish I would have saved for another year instead of loosing money but its just another lesson learned in life.
Personaly I would trade it in and take whatever they give you and get the bagger but get an 07 up.
went to pick up the Dyna at the dealer the other day and they told me it would be ready in about 15 min. (i think they do that on purpose) sooo i went out to the show room. of course a sales man zeroed in on me and i just happened to ask if they had any 08 Kings left over? he said no but they had an 04 with 3800 miles on it and do i want to sit on it and let me hold the front end so you can put both feet up and do you want to see what we can give you for the SG??? i know he could hear the wheels turning but i had to slap myself out of it because there was a very real possibility that my union bros would vote to strike today. it's a really good thing i didn't take it for a test ride. well we didn't strike and now I'm considering trading the Dyna and to make matters worse the wife wants it too and keeps asking when I'm going to do it???
been over in the Dyna forum for about a year but i could relocate to the new neighborhood, so feel free to give any and all opinions why i should or shouldn't (as if you guys could come up with a why not) do it.
i sat on an 09 also and it was a little too tall for me with the taller wheels so its going to have to be am 08 or earlier.
Go for it. The touring bikes are much more comfortable and the storage is great. The MRS will love it.

I'm one of those people that knows exactly why a dog sticks his head out the window. i have a QR windshield for the Dyna and i hate it. only use it when I'm not sure about rain. i even like an occasional 60 MPH bug (ya I know I'm a freak) so the RK will need a QR shield as well.
I have pretty much decided to keep the SG (thats Super Glide for all the Street Glide fans out there), look for an older RK and possibly put a 96'' kit on it at some point so I can have both. I think I'm gona go test ride one in the next couple of days. I'll let you know what i think.
