I have got to ask this queston. Why is the topend on a TC so damn noisy? I have an 04 Ultra with about 18,000 miles on it and it sounds like a sewing machine. I changed the oil to Amsoil 20/50, even more noisy. Changed to Mobile 1 20/50, still noisy. This is my first TC and its driving me nuts. I have always rode old shovels and one of the first things ya do is put in solid lifters and ya that noisy but ya know what it is so ya kinda tune it out. Not knowing that much about the TC its killing me. It holds about 37 psi oil pressure at 70 mph, dont burn it and no leaks. I do about 350 a week to work and back. If I turn up the radio loud enough I dont hear it as bad but now that its getting cooler and I finally broke down and bought a helmet, first time in 25 years of riding, it really echos in the helmet. Going to do a run the middle of the month, about 1000 round trip and just want to make sure the noises Im hearing is normal.
Guess what Im asking is do they all make topend noise? Should I just get used to it?]
That was kinda what I was wanting to know. Sounds like mine isnt any different than anyone else's. I know its not a swiss watch, but ya know if ya hear a noise ya wonder what it is and ifs its bad. Sounds like its all good. I got SE slipons and a loud radio thanks to Firecap501. Look out Ft Worth!!
Thanks for the help

I came off a Night Train to a Road King and the noise was hard to get used to. The wind blocked the sound on the NT but the windsheild bounces it right back on the RK. It is normal and some are louder than others......No worries man
They're right regarding the fairing reflecting top end noise. I noticed a definite increase when I just installed the removable windshield on my Dyna. When I took it back off, there was almost no noise.
LOL,Going from an EVO Roadking to a twinkie Ultra,I took my bike back to the dealer as surely something was messed up.Now wear ear plugs, play stero loud and have the pipes. If I forget to put the earplugs in I know it real quick.
