My bad its about 33 to 34 psi at 70 mph hot. Thats after riding about 30 min and it pretty much stays right there until I slow down.

Yeah, I took my 02 RKC to three mechanics before I was finally convienced that the noise is normal, at least for a stock engine anyway. After 8000 miles, I think 'm finally used to it. If someone came out with an easy fix, they would make a fortune. Can anyone explain why it does it?

I went through this with my evo many moons ago. I now have a 2008 Roadglide that does it too. It has to do with the fast ramp on the cams. With static pressure on the valve spring at the high point during rotation and the fact we run a hydralic lifter/tappet when the valve train closes quickly there is a momentary minut amount of play between the pushrod , the lifter and the rocker arm assembly to cause the ticking sound we hear.

I got 150k out of my evo motor before a bearing failure with it making this same sound. Its just a normal Harley sound to me

Two things that I noticed when I rode the Ultra for the first, second, third time (regardless of year) is the sewing machine sound coming from the motor (especially noticable with stock pipes) and the lack of throttle response (torque) compared to my VTX.
It took me back just a bit due to the badass reputation of Harley for being a powerful "real" motorcycle.

I bought the Ultra for its benefits. I don't need to win a 1/4 mile drag race and I am used to some noise from my previous V-Twin. I knew what I was getting into when I bought my bike and would do it all over again. There is just nothing quite like riding an Ultra, fully loaded, two up on a mountain road or even on the freeway. It is just awesome.
