I built this trailer to just be a tool that I keep in storage in-case something happens that I need to haul my broken down motorcycle. I ride my bike and I don't tow to events or cross country. This is just something I made to help me or my friends out of a bind.
An enclosed trailer would be the way to go for protection if you are using your trailer for travel. I will just be using this in an emergency situation.
And I know it will work just fine for this.
If something happens while it is on the trailer...well I have insurance.
I posted these pictures so maybe someone else might get some ideas and tackle a project on their own, not to argue about rock guards.
You could have just said, "Yeah I know thanks!" and that would have been the end of it. Instead.... you freaked out on someone giving you SOLID advice and now you are here defending youself. You may not be new to welding and trailer-ing, but you certainly are new to conversation.
Maybe you'll learn.
Nice trailer. You should think about maybe a rock guard. They make them for a reason ya know...

You are beginning to sound like all you were seeking was praise. You post here, you will get varied opinions.......all good either way in my view.
O.k. to you guys that said I need a rock guard I am sorry for anything that I said that offended you. I think we need to agree to disagree and let it go.
I thought we were just having a debate on rock guards and I sure didn't want it to come off as a personal attack on anyone.
And yes I did post these pictures for some praise, just like everyone does when they do a mod on there bike, but also to share ideas with the Forum folks.
Anyway, I apologize if I offended anyone with my comments.
Peace

did you think about making the ramp fold in half? I had a trailer with a rear ramp and the wind drag was awful. I really like the trail and had thought about picking up a used seadoo trailer for the same reason.

Thank you!
The way I did the three ramp system was mostly to make it as light as possible.
If you look at the pic with the ramp down you will see the center ramp has a support that runs down the middle of it because that is were the bike needs the support. That ramp is stored underneath the bed.
The other two ramps that are stored on top are made lighter because they only support your feet.
Folding the ramp in half would be a good idea, but you would need a way to store it after the bike is loaded.
I like the trailer! IMO= I owned a Kendon 2 rail and thought it would be the best way to tow. It had a rock guard, made it very heavy to lift and stand up. The first time I put trailer to use I almost dropped the Ultra. No footing on the side of 2 bike trailer. I also disliked the spare tire under the frame, lack of tie down points and the weak ramp connection to trailer. So, your idea is very well received. Thank you!
