Okay, this is getting crazy. Fairing shipped with a 7.5 which was too low; I bought 2 before the fairing came in with the swept top-- they look great on the bike, but neither one does the job. One is a 5.5 the other a 7.5; but I was told with the new areodynamics on the swept screen it is like adding 2". Well needless to say neither one of them prevent buffeting and seemed to allow way too much wind to hit the top of my helmet and my wife even noticed a difference as a passenger. Out of frustration I went to a local dealer today and we brought out the standard which was too high and the 9.5 which seemed about right. Now I've installed it and it still doesn't stop the buffeting at the top and the screen hits me right mid eye and is uncomfortable at that height. Maybe I search for that which does not exist... about an 8.5 swept??? I'm going to list all these as soon as I find out what works.
I bought a 8" Clearview w/recurve and it does the job perfectly. It keeps the annoying buffeting away, and I can slouch down a bit and look through the windscreen, or sit up and look over it. Check out Clearviews web site.
I'll let you know I put one in yesterday. Must have read the same stuff Thanks for the input, you never know what you know and what you don't. Ride safe. J
I had the same problem deciding , I took a 12inch ruler , got on the bike , had somone hold the ruler dead center on the top of the fairing & I was able to see in inches from the ruler- what size I need. I got a 8inch clearview recurve & it woks great!
on your next ride, lay your arm across your chest. If that calms down the buffetting, its coming from under your shield and tank, not over it. This is very comon. Lowers or the HD chrome fork lowers will help more than replacing your windshield. You can get the HD chrome fork mounted lowers for $70.00 and they make a huge difference.
