The '08 and older seats (and backrests BTW) will go on the new bikes but they don't fit correctly as already pointed out above. Mustang is hard at work as we speak getting the new '09 touring model seats and backrests developed and fabricated.
I sure wouldn't put an older one on my $20K bike. January is the target month.
The seat will FIT on the bike, but while the front tab and the rear bolt will attach, the seat is not being supported underneath, as the rubber bumpers are hanging in the air and not making contact with the frame.
So if/when your seat pan cracks, don't blame the company. They warned you.
This is EXACTLY what Mustang told me as well. Can you imagine having the seat pan crack and your a long way from home, with a passenger? You get to pay twice for the seat and be unsafe and miserable or possibly unable to ride at all. I'll wait for the 09 specific seats to come out.

Exactly. They will be producing the seats for the '09 starting in January per Mustang. Personally, I want a new seat bad, but I will wait a couple of months for the right one.
09s have tab on frame not a slot in frame. I put a Corbin from my 01 on my 09 by removing the tab from the seat. the rubber bumpers fit correctly. i used heavy duty velcro to secure the front of the seat to the frame near the gas tank. the passenger hand strap is very secure in stabilizing the seat. i have put 1K miles on it with no movement.
I just received my new 2009 Mustang 76032 sport touring seat for my flhx. I had another sport touring seat on my '05 CVO SEEG over the last couple of years and really liked it.
However this new seat sits an inch higher and the nose is wide enough to where I've lost that feet flat on the ground ability. Kinda disappointed, but with feet up it's as good as they come...crazy comfortable with really good lower back support.
I called Alex at Mustang and to my surprise he agrees...yup '09 seats are sitting about an inch higher due to the electronics sitting under the seat now. Hmmm...an '08 Mustang, 76210, seems to fit everything under the pan, but feels more like the older sport touring seats...lower and narrower. Millers in Daytona has one and I tried it.
Anyone have one other than me..?? If so, what's your opinion..?
