Hi all, I really need a mustang seat on my 09 Ultra, I was told the 08 and earlier mustang seats would not fit, is this correct? Or can it be done, thanks in advance.
Hey Toddnval , I emailed Mustang Seats last week and they replied back to me pretty quick.
Mustang stated that the 08 seats only fit the 08 model bikes.
They said that they will have the new 09 fitment by January for the Harleys.
This was from Mustang last week.

Well, I know the 08 Laperra fit an 09. I also know that the HD Sundowner seats fit and even say 08 and later in the P&A book. I don't know what Mustang could've done different in that their 08 seats won't fit an 09.
I was told the same thing from Mustang.....and I have a one piece made for the 08's that fits perfectly. No issues that I've found, but I haven't checked out all of the contact points under the seat itself. There may be some support points that don't match. Quickest way to see would be to check a stock seat from an 08 and 09 side by side. Open to meet anyone in the Atlanta area next weekend to compare.
I know the frame changes make the pre 09 drivers backrest mount obsolete without some major modification to the front attachment point.
but I haven't checked out all of the contact points under the seat itself. There may be some support points that don't match.
Bingo.
The seat will FIT on the bike, but while the front tab and the rear bolt will attach, the seat is not being supported underneath, as the rubber bumpers are hanging in the air and not making contact with the frame.
So if/when your seat pan cracks, don't blame the company. They warned you.
