Default Best Year for Road King

I'm getting close to buying my first Harley. I've decided on The Road King as My first cruiser bike. I have been reading alot books and mags about what to look for in different models. I'm sure you all have alot of opinions, but I'm looking at 2005 to 2008 models. i was told to stay away from 2007 models because they had problems with the engine mounts. Any help to guide me into a good used buy? Thanks in advance.

I bought my 07 brand new and have not had one problem with it. I Just turned 16K on the OD. Put an IDS on it and drive it.

I'd say a 2001 RK, of course! All kidding aside, I'd say the latest vintage with a carb. Simple to set up. Less expensive to set up. Basic bike, exhaust, stage 1 and it runs great. Any chrome or dynos or performance parts comes after that. And I'm not busting anyone with a newer or Injected bike of any type. But for a first bike, assuming that it's his/her first bike, a 2000/1/2 +/- with a crab and low, low miles has a lot of potential without the heat or expense of FI modifications. Even if theres no thoughts of exhausts and etc, it still runs cooler with the stock pipes.

2005 - 2008 is an easy choice, go for the 2008 and get ABS. It has the brembos, 6 gallon tank, braided brake lines. If you can't save $4k on a clean used one, I would just get the 09 new.

The 06 is the last year of the TC88 and they had all the bugs worked out, really good heads, and no 02 sensors.

This is not my first bike. I currently have a Hayabusa. I have always had sportbikes, but I'm ready for a change. A big change. I f I'm going to get a cruiser, might as well be a Harley. The 2008 is the first year for the 6 speed tranny right?

Have to love the ABS and the 6 gallon tank. I really like my 08 FLHRC; but, it is a touring bike; not a cruiser. If you really want a cruiser, maybe look at the soft tails. I have some freinds who love them. I can't give you a technical defintion on what makes what a what... but in my opinion the Road King will give you great handling and tremendous options for adding stuff or just going simple.

I have a `04 Road King F/I.... This bike would have been perfect if it wasn't fuel injected... but then again, I'm a "nerd" and can work on this crap...
