Went to downshift at a light and no pedal. The rear ball joint unscrewed itself from the lever. Hand shifted to first to get out of the intersection. Pulled over again to get 2nd and drove in to a buddys shop about a mile down the road.
No harm done, locktite and a 7/16 wrench and I was back in business.
You guys might want to check yours out and I'm thinking its time for an upgrade.
No need to check mine. I always take off those cheezy azz joints and replace them with chrome heim joints!
If you guys had any idea of just how many bikes (new and old) that I see where the owner was stopped at a light and went to shift into first, only to snap off the shifter rod at one end or the other....you would all be switching out the sh!tty OEM rods (or at least the ends) with Hime jointed ones ASAP.
I still cant understand why when guys at at a red light....when the light turns green they feel the need to kick down on the shifter like they were trying to stamp out a forest fire. I know it dont take that much pressure to put any of my bikes into first????

It's fun, it looks mocho, like throwing a punch (chamber and throw, driving thru the desired strike area, waited to long when light turned green and every car/truck horn within a 1/4 mile is now on fire (NYC only) and finally it's the next best thing to beat'in it with the reins...NOW GETTIYUP!!!!!
