I started out looking at an 09 Electraglide Classic w/ ABS and Cruise and had worked a deal trading my 04 FLHR and $8746 OTD. Now there is there is $1740 plus tax difference to move up to a Ultra Classic since it includes Cruise as standard and the same dealer has offered to sell me an Ultra Classic in black for that price (10,599 difference). I have no idea what they are offering me on my bike its something north of 12k. They are charging no prep costs. I have 2 dealers interested in my business. My FLHR is Luxury Teal has 7,500 miles on it and is in perfect shape with the wheel option, SE stage 1 set up, removable sissy bar & pad and misc. chrome. I have a matching toup pak and Mustang Seat and Pilion pad that I am going to sell separately. I don't need a new bike but would love to trade up to an 09. I would love to be able to get OTD at $10K even. I'm dealing in NE Ohio. Am I crazy or is it possible?
No, I haven't tried to sell my bike. It's not the best time of year to sell in NE Ohio but that may be my best option if neither dealer is willing to move.
I just purchased an 09 vivid black ultra last weekend. I was to looking at the EG classic, but if your spending that much why not go ahead and get the ultra, so I did. I am very happy with it, I rode it 150 miles home from the dealership and put another 200 on it last Sunday 2 up and it's great.
I traded my 06 Ultra in for a 09 Ultra. Love this bike. There are many improvements and I now have everything I want in a bike. Plan on keeping this one a long time. You can not go wrong with a 09 Ultra.

Some people don't want or need the extras that come on an Ultra. Myself included. Don't need the rear speakers because the wife can hear the radio good enough now. Lowers would come off. CB would never get used. The only thing beneficial for me would be the added lighting on the tour pak. But I could add my own rear lighting for quite a bit less than 2k. If I decide to get an 09 it will more than likely be a Classic. Unless they make me an offer I can't refuse on an Ultra.
I agree about it being a great ride. Took one out a few days ago for an extended test ride and didn't wanna take it back. If the sale on my SG goes through I'll have one.
If you can upgrade to the Ultra I would say go for it. You living up north, the lowers will be a great feature for you. And if you do plan to use the other features (intercom, cb) that will be beneficial for you also. The Ultra also comes with canvas bags for both saddlebags and a nice one for the tourpack also. I had always bought EGC because of not using the cb & intercom and still don't but the lowers & cruise are great. Go for it, you'll be glad you did !!
