captjon37, how did the sound change when you removed the packing, is it more tinny sounding or deeper? Thanks
Well, it did get a little louder after removing the packing but 2/3 of the packing in the right pipe was already gone. Put them on with 800 miles on the bike and removed the packing at 5k. I have the 2.0 and like the sound. Warning though, they are on the loud side. No more packing for me.
I may be interested in trading, but need some questions answered first. How much quieter are these going to be and how much performance am I sacrificing for how much less noise?? My wife and kid would like the bike quieter, but I do not care.... making them happy on this may be equal many brownie points.
I have Rush slash down cuts on my 07 EGC. I didn't buy them, came with bike. I do have the original box and it says 2" BFL... I like the sound OK but I work nights and leaving and coming late I would like some quieter baffles.
Question: I assume ( yeah I know) that 1.75 would be quieter and 1.5 would be quieter more...correct?
If I can get mine out I would trade for some 1.5 baffles..or trade complete pipes...mine are in goos shape, not new but nice anyway.
hey guys bought a set of rush mufflers with the 1.5 baffles likeum alot ,but the wife wants louder so anyone out there have a set of 1.75 baffles they'd like to part with ??
keith
I do happen to have a set of 1.75" baffles. Bought the pipes with those in and switched to the 1.5's. Only used the 1.75's about 2 weeks. And there is a noticeable difference between the two. I was surprised. I didn't think it would make that much difference.

How much quieter will what be compared to what? As the baffle size goes up, generally you lose low-end torque but gain some HP on the top end. You also gain loudness as baffles increase in size.
The exception is Jamie's custom baffles (1.75 on the left with 3/4" reversion cone and 2" on right), which produce higher torque and HP numbers than even the larger conventional baffles. For example, the 1.75" were dynoed by FM at 87TQ and 75HP, while the custom baffles are 94TQ and 78HP.
