I have a pair of 1.75's that weren't used long, and I also have some unused Rush packing material if I can find it. I can't guarantee they will be louder than the 1.5's, as I have never heard the smaller version, but I can say that they were borderline too loud for my taste. I much prefer the Fuel Moto custom baffles that produce more power and have a better tone (IMO).
How do you tell? I have Rush and want quiter....If I new how, maybe trade...
The Fuel Moto custom baffles for Rush (standard in their Jackpot mufflers) are quieter than the 1.75's, have a better tone (IMO), and produce more power and torque. They were $99 when I bought mine (Dec. 2007) and should be the same price now, which includes a PCIII map for the setup.
pull out the packing. It's going to burn out anyway.
Fuel Moto is using Silent Sport packing material, made in Germany, that they say is very durable and warrant it for as long as you own the bike. This is only for their Jackpot mufflers and custom baffles for Rush. My custom baffles have been in for >10k miles and I can hear no difference in sound, quieter and more pleasing than the 1.75's with stock packing material that I had before. OTOH, the stock Rush material installed for 10k miles did change in sound being much louder when I changed baffles compared to new.
After looking at the Rush pipes, I think, when the packing is gone, they will sound a whole lot like the old style SE pipes. The ones that had nothing but a steel baffle inside. The ones I had on my 98 softail classic were loud. Very loud if you rode behind me. But the tone was still good. A bit of a crack sound, but not bad. If my memory serves me, they were something close to 3 inch id baffles.
The Rush versions, with the smaller port, should still be quieter even after the packing is gone.
I have 1.5 Rush baffles and they are too loud for my likeing. The packing is like new so my question is where can I get a different type of packing that will quiet it down some?
Been thinking also of welding in a smaller diameter washer to the baffle to see what happens like something with a 3/4" hole??
