Bad Radio
I have a 2006 Road Glide and the radio display has gone blank. Radio works, back light works, just no LED characters. Also, the temperature gauge is wildly inaccurate and spends a lot of time showing 120 degrees.
Is there anything to service here, or should I just buy a new radio and temp gauge?
This was a common issue with 06 radios--happenned to mine as well--on the day I traded it in for my 08!. The radios faceplate comes off the body of the radio as one unit. There is a main male connector on the back of the faceplate that plugs into a female socket on the body of the radio. The issue is that on 06 radios, water or condensation would "collect" at this connection point and cause the failure you have. I guess they realized the issue cause in 07, they started putting a hot glue or silicone type material around the male connector on the faceplate side so no more moisture would cause this failure. If you have a good relationship with your dealer, I say its worth a shot to see if they can "work some magic" for you

I would look for some responses from others on the temp guage--the HD temp guages are not well known for accuracy........Your sender maybe pooched???
