acidic bird s**t
went out to the bike and on the right side of the gas tank there was a quarter sized blob of bird crap sitting there baking in the sun. Probably had been there for a few hours. Bird crap is very acidic depending on what they eat and using a lot of water and soap (have to be careful as bird crap has grit in it and can scratch paint) I got it off and the acidity in it etched the paint!

Hand polishing had no effect so I had to break out the Porter-Cable polisher and go for it. It took an hour of buffing to smooth out the paint and polish out the damaged area.
On the scoot I had used Klasse AIO cleaner and then a coat of Klasse Gloss Sealant. I was going to be layering up the sealant before throwing on numerous coats of wax to protect over the winter during storage.
First time I had paint etched as normally I have numerous layers of wax on my vehicles. Wax won't protect completely but slows down the damage until the crap can be removed.
Just a reminder, don't let bird dung sit on the paintwork any longer than you have to..I even carry a quick detailer spray and microfibre cloth in the saddlebag.
