Radials...hmmm
I have a 08 SG and am thinking of placing Dunlop Elite 3 Radials on my bike. For the rear a 180/60R16, tire height is 1.32" shorter than stock. ( which also means I can lower it even more than the 1" I have already with the shock lowering blocks and STILL ride 2 up!...like 2" lower over stock...that be bad azz) New 5" wide x 16" aluminum billet wheel, makes tire width 1.65" wider than stock...brother inlaw owns a machine shop, he and I did a 180 tire on a 07 FLH cop bike last year, no swing arm kit, no any kit...all new cnc milled wheel, hub and spacers, easy for him, I'm the benificiary on this one, I provide the materials and donor bike. Side track a bit... b-inlaw has also done a 180 on his Dad's Deuce, a 180 on his own hot rod 116" Super Glide..so wheel building in stock swing arms has become easy. Back to me... We were measuring this weekend and the SG has more rear fender room than the 07 FLH cop bike. For the front a 130/70R18, tire is .04" shorter than stock. Again new 3"x18"wheel. My thought is ...Radials sound like a cool thing to do for the obvious ...ride and handling. The Load ratings are close 992# for the rear, stock is 908# and 600# for the front, stock is 783#... These are the same size tires on the new.......ahem........ugh.........honda, goldwing. Now stop laughing...they use a Dunlop D250F Radial, which Dunlop's web site isn't up to date, I've found the D250's ratings are 827# and 600#.... so I 'm curious to what load ratings the hon-duski's 250 "F" tires have... Any help? Ideas? ok comments ...like I need to ask : )
